Rafael Marrero & Company’s community involvement is focused on helping the Little Haiti Optimist Club (LHOC) operate its tech and community center. The company donated 20 Macintosh computers and two printers, plus hired an IT company to install the computers. Marrero personally installed content-filtering software for a safe web environment for the students and other community members who utilize the computers. As a result of the firm’s support, LHOC has more than 50 students enrolled in programs to learn about technology, coding and app creation. The company also played an important role in helping sportsman Rafael Castillo, a double amputee, reach his dream of representing the U.S. in the Paralympic Games of 2012 by organizing fundraising events and donating money; Castillo won gold and silver medals at the games.
