The Business Center assists eligible MBEs in growing their businesses and competing in domestic and global markets. The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce, leads Federal Government efforts to promote the growth and global competiveness of America’s growing minority business enterprise (MBE) community. The Technical Assistance Program (TAP) offers unprecedented access to technical and professional services in the much needed areas of Legal, Accounting & Business Compliance and Sales Coaching & Training. The FSMSDC has partnered with leading experts in all three industries to offer professional consultation and assistance at a reduced cost. The Legal Services are provided by Quintairos, Prieto, Wood and Boyer P.A., LM Austin, LLC offers the Accounting & Business Compliance Services and The Sales Evangelist provides Sales Coaching & Training. The goal of TAP is to empower firms with a level of professional guidance rarely leveraged by MBEs, especially as they attempt to operationally transition into new contracts or revenue-generating opportunities.
The FSMSDC will cover the cost of the first two (2) hours of consultation per FSMSDC certified MBE & three (3) hours per MBE Subscriber. Additional hours are available at reduced rates.Book Consultation Hours Now

NMSDC Central provides national exposure and exclusive access to each of our members and MBEs. A database of over 16,000 certified minority-owned suppliers is indexed by industry classification code. The database provides essential information about potential partners, including business references, key contacts and annual sales.
The primary goal of the DBE Specialized Development Program is to increase the number of DBEs participating on FDOT contracts and the dollar percentage awarded to DBEs by providing assistance to Prime Contractors and facilitating the development of DBEs to obtain contracts. This effort will be concentrated on the larger contracts identified by the Department including those contracts advanced in the 21st Century Transportation Plan.Learn More
FSMSDC Announces new $30 Million Loan Fund for the Council’s Certified MBEs

BCF Initiates New Direct Loan Program
The Business Consortium Fund (BCF) has initiated a new Direct Lending Program for NMSDC certified MBEs. The new BCF program can provide loans to MBEs in the range of $75,000 to $1,125,000, with the maximum term of any loan being 7 years. The BCF now has the capability to address many of the working capital needs of a MBE with this new loan program, its Loan Guaranty/Participation Program and its Factoring Finance Program. BCF loan pricing will be based on an overall assessment of the MBE and will seek to be competitive with rates offered by banks and other lenders. MBEs seeking a BCF loan should:
- Be seeking to grow their business to the next level.
- Have a solid financial condition and credit history (able to explain any credit blemishes).
- Be near or above break-even the last 3 fiscal years.
- Be able to clearly demonstrate the ability to pay back the loan.
There is a non-refundable $250 application fee for the Direct Lending Program. MBEs must be NMSDC certified and doing business with a NMSDC national or local corporate member to apply. A service of the FSMSDC and the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the BCF provides MBEs exclusive access to working capital and term loans, equipment financing and leasing, accounts receivable financing, subordinated debt, and equity--all on reasonable terms. Long-term financing is also available through the BCFs Specialized Small Business Investment Company (SSBIC).

The FSMSDC will award one full and one partial scholarship to attend the program.
Companies submitting an application for consideration for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Company must be currently certified with the FSMSDC.
- Only the CEO/owner of the minority business is eligible to participate.
- Business should be at least three years old with sales of more than $5 million for manufacturing and distribution firms and more than $3 million for service firms.
- Candidate must be committed to accelerating the growth of their business.
- Candidate must be committed to attend and participate fully in the entire program.
Industry Groups were created to further develop relationships between MBEs, corporate members and government agencies. All companies are encouraged to assign a representative to be their voice within their industry as well as with the Council. The Industry Groups promote business opportunities, create additional means of networking, showcase the capabilities of Minority Business Enterprises and identify the purchasing needs of corporate members and government agencies.

The FSMSDC's Annual Business Expo is Florida's largest minority business event. MBEs have the opportunity to meet and showcase their products to corporate and government buyers in a relaxed and professional setting. The Annual Awards Gala is the Council's signature event, which recognizes the achievements of Florida's top minority-owned businesses, dynamic industry leaders and major corporations that are committed to Supplier Diversity. This upscale evening of honor and elegance brings together Florida's business community. Guests will have the opportunity to network, while celebrating the achievements of minority-owned businesses and professionals that are shaping the future of Florida. The Gala includes a reception, silent auction, musical entertainment and networking. A PowerNet is a corporate-sponsored matchmaker targeting MBE attendees with the capabilities, products and services the corporation seeks. Vendors present to a target audience of buyers and procurement managers in an open setting for the opportunity to spark a new business relationship. As buyers assess “the fit” of potential vendors, MBEs also determine whether the corporation offers viable opportunities. The Symposium is a workshop for Minority Businesses, corporations and government agencies. Companies interested in discovering best practices in management, sales and team building will learn proven methods for growth and how to increase competitiveness.
From the boardroom to the exhibition hall, and on and off the greens, the FSMSDC creates invaluable relationship-building forums for its members and MBEs. Awards and social events occur throughout the year, including a Family Fun Day Picnic, Networking Receptions and the Annual Awards Gala.
The Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Premium Subscription is a select add-on that provides a multitude of value-added services for our members. The Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council’s Partners in Business Progress Mentor Protégé Program matches emerging minority-owned companies with senior executives from the University of Miami (U of M) to assist them in gaining the tools and techniques to improve their operations, gain more customers and accelerate growth.
This program creates a “big brother” relationship in which a major corporation or large MBE works one-on-one with a certified minority-owned business for a specified period of time. Corporate partners help MBEs address a range of issues - from daily business challenges to long-term strategic planning. Every attempt is made to match corporations with future potential suppliers to maximize benefits for both mentor and protégé.

Many of the FSMSDC’s MBEs and corporate members are engaged in civic, philanthropic and volunteer initiatives that are making a difference in our community. Some of our companies have established their own charitable organizations to assist their favorite causes or are doing acts of kindness and giving generously to assist the less fortunate.
Our members are driven by the desire to find solutions to challenges, improve communities and involve their employees in meaningful projects. Many of these stories are often overlooked.
